Native Americans protest outside CNN demanding they stop ignoring Standing Rock

http://bients.com/native-americans-protest-outside-cnn-demanding-stop-ignoring-standing-rock/

October 29, 2016

Indigenous activists are loudly protesting outside of CNN, calling out the network for refusing to cover the Dakota Access Pipeline protests.

In a Facebook live video from the Indigenous Life Movement, a large group of Native American protesters is seen banging on drums and singing outside the cable news network’s office building in Hollywood. The group is calling attention to the fact that despite its massive resources and 24-hour operations, it has devoted a minimal amount of coverage to the escalating tensions at the Standing Rock camp, where over 300 tribes are fighting the construction of an 1,100-mile pipeline.

--
As of this writing, Don Lemon, whose show airs live on CNN from 10 PM to midnight Eastern, hasn’t tweeted about the Dakota Access Pipeline protests since riot police mass arrested, maced, and beat indigenous water protectors on Thursday afternoon. And as of 11 PM Eastern on Friday night, his show hasn’t yet mentioned the brutal treatment Native Americans have received at the hands of law enforcement and private security forces.

Lemon has also not yet talked about the recent developments in the pipeline dispute, like Senator Bernie Sanders calling on President Obama to halt pipeline construction, or college students across Virginia protesting at Hillary Clinton’s campaign offices demanding she speak out against the pipeline.

CNN’s relative silence on the biggest story of the week didn’t go unnoticed by media critics on Twitter.

Over and over without saying anything new just "they are looking to see if something classified is sent" over and over.

We all can call this media selection of stories - Fukushima! When's the last time you heard a peep about the worst nuke plant disaster in history? Still spewing, leaking and poisoning, without any idea of where the melted cores have burrowed into the earth? WTF? It's the cavalry vs. the Indians again, and not a peep? Why? Because Fukushima?

Fuck CNN and the fawning corporate media. And Fukushima!
