Republicans could win every single white vote in the country & not be able to win nat'l election

Why the GOP can’t write off Hispanics:

Republicans literally cannot afford to let Hispanics become reliably Democratic. At some point in the future — given current demographic trends — Republicans could win virtually every single white vote in the country and not be able to win a national election.

Mine included...

Also Texas--
In the two years between November 2008 and November 2010, over 300,000 valid voters were warned that they may be removed from Texas voter rolls. Eligible voters were threatened with removal most often because they failed to respond to generic form letters or because they were mistaken for someone else, which is even more worrisome given that there is a high incidence of voters sharing a name in Texas, particularly among Hispanics. Across Texas, 21% of voters who received purge letters later proved that they were eligible to vote.

Several years ago, Abbott announced there was an “epidemic” of voter fraud in Texas and he launched an investigation. But his investigation and subsequent prosecutions failed to confirm any such epidemic. Abbott found 26 cases to prosecute – all against Democrats, all but one against blacks or Hispanics. Of those, two-thirds were technical violations in which voters were eligible, votes were properly cast and no vote was changed. None of the cases would have been affected by the voter ID requirement. A spokesman for Abbott defended his crackdown on vote fraud, saying it’s a very real problem. Still, the voter ID idea is a staple among Republican politicians in Texas and other states that have adopted similar voting requirements.

26 cases is an "epidemic?"

Which goes a long way past the Washinton Post article.

It will be quite some time in the future. Most of the US Senate and House of Representatives will be dead before then, given their current ages. So politics can change before it happens.

I guess it means that both Republicans and Democrats have to allow more hispanic immigration in order to win the hispanic vote because hispanics will soon be a majority because of all the immigration we are allowing. Does that about sum it up?

Romney's base is older white males.

Obama's is:

Younger white males
Women
Minorities

Romney doesn't have and can't get the votes.

I swear some people have blinders on here. I work is social services, all groups of people come in my office and the attitude amongst so many is that they are really dissapointed and discouraged with the present administration. I have heard complaints from blacks, whites, hispanics, men, women, documented and undocumented. For them, Romney would be just a vote for the "other"; they have no use for political forums, cable news and punditry.

The people you're describing probably won't vote. Hell, most people I know are disappointed and discouraged with the present administration but see nothing that Romney has to offer other than less of the same.

The "not as bad" meme still sells.

But Tierra's right on one thing: even in the worst case scenario(like a Euro collapse, and/or major screw-ups by the Obama admin), it'd be hard for the GOP to win without resorting to dirty tricks.

The Rethuglies will still be likely to keep Texas for a long time to come. The real reason they'll be likely to keep Texas is because of the abysmally low voter participation of Texas Hispanics. I'm not talking about either undocumented or resident aliens of Hispanic heritage. Nor am I talking about the effects of right-wing and Republican voter-suppression or voter-discouragement efforts. I'm talking about the wretchedly low turn-out on the part of those Hispanic Texans born here in Texas and other US states, fluent in English, and as politically-dormant as gopher turtles out in some wild area miles from the nearest settlement or highway turn-off.

Some people have the power and strength or numbers to shake the world--and yet continue to doze on the couch.

in 1988. Guess they`ll need an extra hispanic vote to offset me. And notice how they choose the lighter skin color. It would kill them to try for AA`s? LOL of course it would. Good luck ever taking NM again. Texas will be ours by 2020, bank on it.

Every decade they will outnumber an older age group from now on.

And there's not a damn thing white's can do about it, so trying desperately to pass white laws is a total waste of time. I'll be so glad to see the racists back in the closet again because that's where they belong. There or under some rock.
