One of the pastors of my church revealed his support for Trump :(

and I think it's because of the abortion issue. I simply replied to him (this was on FB):

"If you're voting for Trump because you think he's going to end abortion, you're being taken for a fool".

I don't' think so. You know, you can't always avoid the people who have different views from yourself. I don't want to isolate myself like that.

I just find it disconcerting that he takes Trump at his word that he's against abortion, when the man is clearly a obnoxious demagogue that will say anything to get elected. I guess I just believed he'd be smarter than that.

Maher explained. “Jesus healed the blind, Trump mocks the handicapped. Jesus turned the other cheek, Trump grabs your pussy. Jesus turned water into wine, Trump just whines. The Bible says, ‘Thou shalt not covet they neighbor’s wife.’ Trump says, ‘Fine, what about my daughter?'”

Despite all that, Maher said, “They went for the foul-mouthed, pussy-grabber.”

A number of prominent Republican politicians have denounced Trump too, but the vast majority of Republicans will still vote for him. Same here methinks.

else. He's a zealot. He took the low road because it's easy, costs nothing to say you oppose abortions rather than deal realistically and compassionately with the women and their families who face such hard decisions. He doesn't want to face them or put in the effort to support them. Ask him how many people in his church are likely to have an abortion vs everyone who will be negatively impacted by Trump's views when his special craziness becomes the law of the land.

I suggest approaching him in the spirit of Christian brotherhood and find out what his thinking is. Be prepared to point out Trump's inconsistencies with Christian teachings, in a factual not judgmental way. You don't want him defending Trump, just acknowledging that Trump's public behavior and pronouncements aren't really in line with the teachings of your pastor's profession. You don't have to dunk his head in the water, but lead him right to the basin and invite him to drink.

http://bipartisanreport.com/2016/09/09/just-in-barbara-bush-verbally-dissects-any-woman-who-votes-for-donald-trump-video/

The former First Lady was recently on “CBS This Morning” when she was asked her opinion on Republican nominee, Donald Trump. Mrs. Bush didn’t mince words in her response:

“He’s like a comedian, or like a showman or something[…] I don’t know how women can vote for someone who said what he said about Megyn Kelly. It’s terrible. And we knew what he meant, too.”

It was quite obvious what Trump was talking about when he said that Megyn Kelly went after him because she had: “Blood coming out of her wherever.”
Mrs. Bush didn’t take kindly to this crass and misogynistic statement referring to a woman’s menstrual cycle, and playing on the stereotype of female mental instability one week out of every month.

What Trump doesn’t understand, is that he is far more mentally unstable than any woman in the throes of her natural menstrual cycle, and that at least having his period would be a valid excuse for frequent verbal diarrhea. This is an excuse Donald Trump can never use, however. So why, Donald? If it’s not your period, what the hell is wrong with you?

15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. 16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Pretty much nails Trump's brand of "christianity". As for any Christian, be they clergy or layman, that believes Trump will abolish abortion, well the Bible is pretty liberal in it's use of the word FOOL.

They know that Trump is a vile, blasphemous demogogue but they're willing to look past that in hopes that he'll delegate everything to Pence, who they KNOW is anti-choice.

some social....are you a member of the congregation family

some spiritual.....do what they say make sense and feed you as it were

some simple logistics....know a family that drive 45 minutes on the freeway each way....i don't think so

i left and returned to the church i grew up with....my moms church. I go and i feel i am supposed to be there. Not all that sure why yet.....but i am supposed to be there....(not going to say calling cause that phrase creeps me out)

Mutt for you the equation at your church just changed with your pastors stance.....Will it drive you away?
I can not answer that...figure it out on your own...

i wish you luck just remember there are perhaps other churches that would love to have you...but alas
the perfect church is a rare thing....seems everything has warts

good luck
