Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHey strangers - just wanted to say "Go Hillary!" - and hello!
All is good on my end here.... the primaries were admittedly just too bruising for me, and things just got too mean - so I essentially left political websites behind and focused on my family, my writing, busy year garden speaking.
I don't expect to ever really get back to actively participating here or elsewhere re politics - it isn't something I am cut out to do (I take things too personally, gets me too riled up) - so I will make a difference the way I can - reaching groups, inspiring them to find common ground by sharing excitement in my gardening passion - sharing with them, teaching, and learning, inspiring young people to plant gardens. Got more books to write, tomatoes to grow - and will be all over the place next year...maybe some more of us will finally get to meet! Isn't that what all of us here are really trying to do - set an example, help be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem...there is certainly enough of that going on, isn't there?
But - it is election eve. I've been a wreck about it, but am feeling really confident that we will get to celebrate history tomorrow. It just felt like a good time to say hi, once more, again...at last !

(60,015 posts)We only made it a few times this summer - rough one for the garden (that climate that isn't changing is really biting us here!)

(118,696 posts)as many of the strongest DUERS were. GOP trolls dressed up as members. It hurt because it was meant to. You are not weak. You are strong. We miss you and hope you come back.

(67,808 posts)Like you, I back off politics for a while, too. But this race was so nasty, it drew me in. Being a basically pugnacious asshole, I kind of wallowed in it!
I suspect I'll be a little less "here" after the election is over.

(25,816 posts)You are a DU treasure. You're right about the vitriol here during primaries.
I'm happy that your book and career took off!

(60,015 posts)so my wife and I went out and worked our flower beds for a few hours - about to cook a roasted tomato crostata for a little election night party at a friend's house.
So, so ready to flush the Trumpturd down the toilet of history!

(41,208 posts)We got ourselves into such an ALMIGHTY mess that I am even more nervous about any election than usual.
