(53,339 posts)Every donation helps, especially with Denise running against an incumbent GOP opponent backed by both the Koch brothers and ALEC!
For Denise it has been a shoe leather campaign of constant door-knocking to reach the voters. She has been a real Democratic trouper!

(111,277 posts)I live in Sheryl Stapleton's district and have voted for her since I moved in here. I would love to see Duhneece give her some company.

(53,339 posts)I'm in California and met Denise some years ago on DU. We discovered that her late husband, Mike, and I were in the same Army hospital at the same time as Vietnam casualties. In fact, we were on the same floor. Mike was on the amputee side and I was on the facial casualties side. I probably met Mike back then.
My first wife was from Albuquerque's South Valley. We met at the very end of my hospital stay. She'd finished her junior year in Nursing at UNM and was working in a summer program at the Public Health Service Hospital in San Francisco, not far from Letterman Army Hospital at the Presidio.
I still have a soft spot in my heart for New Mexico.

(111,277 posts)and some years ago, they even tried to swift boat her with a bogus scandal, one that she answered with a mailing to all her constituents in the district and showed the GOP up for what they undoubtedly are. She's a fighter and I'm happy to keep her in office.
Where is duhneece's district?
NM tends to be kind of a crossroads. I'm always running into nurses I once worked with in Boston.

(53,339 posts)My wife never practiced nursing in NM apart from practicum at an Indian health clinic in Bernallio during school. She did critical care at UCLA when we were in California in the '70s, then was at Georgetown U. Hospital for many years. Last I heard from her she'd moved to another D.C.-area hospital, but it's been a while now.
I love nurses, both as a general proposition and because a nurse literally saved my life in Vietnam.

(53,339 posts)I googled district maps, but my eyes are getting a little bleary and I had a hard time pinning down Sheryl's district.

(53,339 posts)I don't think she'll mind if I share part of her last message to me:
Still, there's hope, as Hillary's coattails and the Hispanic vote can give her a boost.
Whatever happens, what counts is that Denise is fighting the good fight.
And what she's doing takes a special kind of courage.
Talk about setting a good example!
