Our corporate overlords have done an excellent job scaring the masses about the evils of cannabis - gateway drug & all the other BS. I contend that alcohol is as much or more of a gateway drug.

Colorado is a lovely place to live!

normal ingrained desire in humans. The problem is, Corporate/Gov. USA, Inc. wants everyone to rot their guts out on alcohol.

So, people look for alternatives, so they get all of the crap.

And something like marijuana gets bypassed, because there are more profits in keeping it illegal, and big pharma wants in on the game too.

So, people die and suffer, this, is American Exceptionalism.

In addition, the violent drug gangs will go out of business when the black market becomes unprofitable. Oh, there will still be packs of violent punks. They just won't be nearly as well funded and might have to go back to zip guns.

Unfortunately, there will likely be a market for bad drugs like meth. However, that market will be greatly reduced and meth addicts will serve as walking advertisements for why people need to stay away from the stuff.

Meth, heroin, coke, PCP, and so on would still be "outlaw" drugs and people would still do them. There might be a slight drop in some of the drugs that share characteristics with pot, but there isn't a direct correlation between pot and everything.

marijuana was legal.

According to my perception, most people who take intoxicants take legal intoxicants.

People do bad shit. And no amount of threat or punishment can deter or stop it.

The real problem is that those who do the worst shit get away. Like the Bush family.

Bath salts serve a different need. They're high powered stimulants so users that like high powered stimulants will look for them.

For one thing, you're comparing a downer with an upper (possibly with hallucinogenic properties?) and while some people get fucked up just to get fucked up, mostly they seem to be aiming one direction or the other.
