I think I have gotten to the point that I have lost faith in this country.

Really.

Our election was compromised on so many levels it is not even funny. And we do nothing.

No one knows where to even get the truth anymore. No one even agrees what the truth is, which makes it hard to talk about our country's problems. So we do nothing.

Frigging orange hitler just stole the election with help from the Russians and the press/media, because more people believed the fake news then the real news. We do nothing.

The North Pole is barely at the freezing temperature. We do nothing.

We plan these marches for January. That's too late. We have no one representing us. The few that we do have, do not have any power to do anything. Oh yeah, we talk about how we will block this and that. And how we will march and protest boycott all that.

But after Jan. 20, 2017, we won't be able to do any of that. Once orange man assumes power every freedom you had will be taken away.

There will be no marches and protests as they will be made illegal.

There will be no free speech as it will be made illegal.

There might be some push back on the orange man's cabinet. But we are in the minority and we will lose most if not all of those fights.

Millions will be deported.

Millions will be put in concentration camps.

Millions will be put in jail.

Millions will die for lack of health care.

Millions will die for lack of save food and water.

Climate change will get worse.

The poor will stay poor.

The rich will get richer.

Women will use coat hangers as birth control.

The LGBT community will be treated by conversation therapy or death.

It's a nightmare! And we do nothing. Is there anything we can do? Or is it really our fate to become a fascist state without even fighting?

This is not normal. And we have less then 100 days to stop it from happening. Once it is Jan. 20, 2017, we won't be able to stop it.

At what point does it matter?

The reality is that unless we can find a way to join together and fight this thing now, the USA will cease to exists.

Oh there will be people here. And there will be a country. Just it will cease to be a democracy.

Orange man doesn't want to be President. He wants to be the ruler.

And from the looks of things, most people care more about, shopping on black friday and cyber monday then losing their civil rights and freedoms. More people will take part in the war on christmas then bothered to vote.

In a way it is exactly what we deserve. Part of me hopes orange man destroys it all.

That in two years all these old white people are sad because they don't have any money because the vouchers for medicare, medicaid, and social services don't cover all their needs. And now they must eat cat food, rely on food pantries and charitable organizations for food.

All those dumb white young people who thought HRC was the devil but orange man was better because of emails and Bill. Well, I hope you have to have 3 jobs at services places, like McDonald's, 7/11, and walmart and have to rent a trailer with roommates just to get by. I hope you are forced to drink lead laced water and eat romain noodle soup for holidays and packets of ketchup mixed with water every regular day. I hope you do jail time for driving without insurance because you can't afford it but got to drive to work. I hope your trailer park is hit by a hurricane 5 and fema doesn't help. I hope when on skiing vacation you get stuck in avalanche and have to figure out how to get yourself out cause there is no money for rescue units.

Oh I could go on and on with things I hope happen to these shit for brains idiots that voted for orange man for days. It would feel great to rant about all the evil I hope befalls them. They deserve it.

But then I remember. People I love and care about will have to go through all this too. So I just sit and stare in despair. No hope. Thinking, when should I leave, where do I go, how do we stop this madness?

That was a mouthful. No, I lived through many other repug presidents and will live through this one too...and we must begin yesterday to build our base back. We have lost the Presidency, Congress and the Senate as the former labor party...yes you can win your city/state government enmass without labor in major metro areas that doesn't win national elections. Flyover Democrats who have put Obama and Clinton in office are labor votes...they did not respond in kind and thus squandered the good will of labor.

We can continue to disregard labor, but we better find a pretty big disenfranchised segment of the repug party to steal to replace them...

but this budding kleptocracy gained power by the slimmest of margins -- 100K voters total over 3 states, and will hold power for as long as those people agree to be massively screwed over just to spite the Democrats.

We'll see. This is from an interesting article in Vox about the need to NOT go along but be fighting right now.

It is entirely possible that eight years from now we’ll be looking at an entrenched kleptocracy preparing to install a chosen successor whose only real mission is to preserve the web of parasitical oligarchy that has replaced the federal government as we know it. One can, of course, always hope that the worst does not come to pass. But hope is not a plan. And while the impulse to “wait and see” what really happens is understandable, the cold, hard reality is that the most crucial decisions will be the early ones.

Trump’s first 100 days could also be the last 100 days in which America’s system of republican government can be saved.

I still show up and fight, but I learned not to care as much after that election. It is what it is. People are going to die. Bad stuff is going to happen. We tried to warn them. They don't listen. Some people can't be helped. Not my fault and not yours, no matter what the media tries to spin about how the poor white people are soooooo sad and just need more understanding for their racist and self destructive ways. Fuck 'em. They want to be less sad, they should get off their asses and figure out a new game plan.

This is why the Orange One is going to end up having a fit. He can't just order things as he wants them to be. Even R Congress has sense enough not to pass something that would impede free speech. Even a court full of conservatives would have to recognize legal precedent.

Living in a right wing area, I can say that the alienation and disillusionment I see (and feel) now in the democratic party is roughly the same as what they felt during the Obama presidency. Why does one side need to feel entirely alienated when the other side is in power, and entirely victorious when theirs takes over? Its the definition of an unreconcilably divided nation, like a bad marriage. On my own part, I can say the determination is total resistance to the kind of cultural change the other side wants. Going backward is a trip to discrimination, inequality and every thing America does not stand for; not going to happen.

This country has always had its dark side. This goes back to colonial times, so it's nothing new. I think the big reason people get disillusioned is because they've been fed the PR version of America. What we consider "free speech" didn't even exist until the 1920's. Eugene Debs was given ten tears for saying he thought the draft was unconstitutional in World War I. The Supremes backed it 9-0. This included Brandeis and Holmes. And yet new court rulings in the later 1920's won freedom of speech. This is the Harry Truman view of history. We take two steps forward and one backwards. When the powers that be overplay their hand, there is a reaction. Lately the media has been putting a muzzle on it, but I think by now they have lost any credibility, and so I am looking forward to organizing the reaction to the Dumpster fire. When his outhouse of cards burns down there will be a huge reaction and maybe we'll finally get some structural change, which has been lacking for fifty years. If we keep battering at the door long enough we will break it down. Politics is like hockey. It's what you do when you don't have the puck that wins the game. Organize and fight.
Just because 25% of the people got suckered doesn't mean that the other 75% plus those ineligible are powerless. Power depends upon compliance and he's getting zip from me.

26. Until the younger generations get off their collective asses.......
Sat Nov 19, 2016, 03:00 PM
Nov 2016

Nothing's going to happen. It's going take a massive sea change in attitudes by a mass majority of younger Americans on a scale we haven't seen since the 1960's. What's it going to take to motivate that many millennials and genx's? I really don't know at this point. Our generation had the Vietnam war to motivate the masses. It is likely that Trump will do something in the next 4years. Who knows? What I do know is the future of this country belongs to the younger generation. If they can't get off their collective privileged lazy asses, their future is going to be bleak. If the prospect of President Trump couldn't motivate enough of them to vote in numbers to defeat the threat to their future, I really don't know what will.
