Elizabeth Warren Calls On Senate To Exercise Fundamental Moral Leadership And Reject Jeff Sessions

“There can be no compromise with racism; no negotiation with hate.”

WASHINGTON ― Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) called on President-elect Donald Trump to rescind the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to serve as the country’s next attorney general over allegations he made racist remarks.

But should Trump proceed with Sessions’ nomination, Warren said the Senate must “exercise fundamental moral leadership” and block Sessions from getting the job.

If they ever had any of that in the first place, it's pretty clear that they don't any more.

The situation has changed very fundamentally with Trump's election, but it is far too soon to insist they all offer no moral leadership.

Think friends and alliances. Verbally spitting in the faces of potential swing voters and calling them all racists--long before the actual election--did not exactly work well for us.

and there was no real political downside to their opposition. They could look virtuous by refusing to endorse him; then when he lost they could say, "see, I told you so." But then he won, and the landscape has changed. We'll see if that "moral" stance survives their concern for their political careers. I'm not holding my breath.

Don't hold your breath for Democrats to give Sessions a hard time
