I was watching a YouTube movie with headphones & the blackout drapes drawn then I heard KERBLAM!! I couldn't believe it. It just poured & the rain came down sideways. Our courtyard is flooded. I feel sorry for the thousands who are downtown for the Silver Bells Festival & state tree lighting at the capitol.

And it's the middle of November. The lightning was spectacular, though. I guess this storm is ushering in a cold front, so maybe the temperatures will be a little more seasonable.

I just dug up my sage plant and potted it, so that I can be sure to have fresh sage for the turkey.

I haven't turned on my furnace, yet, this year. Hope it still works because I might need it, now!

You will be perfectly fine. Just keep shopping and eating Doritos and you will get through it all without a scratch.

All of these downed trees and power outages are probably just figments of our imagination.

8. We have had something here in MA called King Tides

http://dailyfreepress.com/2016/10/25/editorial-king-tides-remind-that-rising-sea-levels-is-an-issue-of-today/

It causes coastal flooding not due to storms, but to astronomical factors. The Boston waterfront and surrounding areas have been flooding - during a drought period and without storms! Combine these King tides with increased global warming and it will be disastrous.

We are having floods in perfectly nice weather, can you imagine what it will be like if one of these tides coincides with a hurricane or even a bad storm?

I fear that this is another thing that will creep up on us slowly until suddenly there is a disaster on our hands. We will say we never saw it coming, but we did.

Our climate has really shifted, but I've seen several thunderstorms in January here in the Twin Cities. Usually followed by a blizzard.

and saw some pretty weird weather even fifty, sixty years ago. Some times as a kid on Halloween I'd need a coat and mittens, sometimes a sweater was too warm. I've seen it snow in April when it was 80 degrees a month earlier. I don't deny global warming one bit; breaks my heart to see the glaciers melting, the polar bear population dying out, etc. But sometimes freaky Michigan weather is just how it is. We used to laugh at the weather channels that would report, "Oh, it's only lake effect snow" as if it wasn't the real thing. Good old Michigan: Thirty years now in the tropics and I figure any day I should be missing it.

Our weather has just been strange. I think it was 2012 when I had daffodils blooming in February. Then we had two winters (2013/2014) with record breaking cold and snow depths. It felt like winter would never end. This past winter was almost arid, in comparison. The summers before those awful winters had some gawd awful heat waves and this past summer was the driest I've ever experienced.

Since I don't have to deal with going into work, the winter weather can do what it pleases, as long as I don't have to deal with another week long power outage. My niece and nephew want me to move to North Carolina, to be close to them. I'm considering it. Then, when the locals are freaking out over an inch of snow, I can just sit back and smile.

Global warming, y'all!

But from what I've seen on the weather map, those flowers will be history, very soon and I expect to see a naked tree, sooner rather than later.
