On Inauguration Day there needs tobe a general strike and marching in the streets across the country

In every city across the nation people need to turn out and show Trump and his cronies, while he is getting sworn in, that we will not sit and accept his time in office as normal.
The evening news needs to cut from his swearing in to millions of people marching peacefully in the streets from sea to sea.
It's his party and we need to crash it.

I was in Europe in 2001 when W was inaugurated.

The first I saw of the inaugural protests was in the Michael Moore film "Fahrenheit 911" because I didn't discover DU until 2004. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_9/11

with their backs to the podium at the Capital building. The Media would find it hard to ignore and certainly no special permits would be required.

Maybe Bernie and Elisabeth Warren would be the speakers.

They would get better coverage if they gathered the day of and besides...the porta-potties would still be clean.

I'm thinking a speech by a Black Lives Matter advocate and Mr. Khan to speak about the constitution's idea of freedom of religion.

at least for a person like me who is very uncomfortable in crowds, but it was worth it. I think you're right that the day of is a far better idea. Although, I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to go and face not just crowds, but crowds of Trump supporters in the same city, much less (practically) the same mall as me.

So shots of the crowd would show - hopefully - a sea of blue heads turned away from T-rump.
