About.. "not giving up".. when things look bad. An example:

On the night of the 1972 election, I was working for George Mc Govern in a difficult area of Chicago. We did better than we thought, but we still lost the precinct ...I came home and saw the results that totally devastated me....here they are at this link:.................................................................(17 Electoral Votes for us, 520 for them, Nixon received the largest victory margin in real numbers of voters in any election in history)

.........sometime later the Democratic Party was broke, and to pay bills, we had to have a nation wide fundraiser..It was on national TV raising money... Most of us were pretty discouraged to say the least...and the Viet Nam War went on...even though George Mc Govern was correct in wanting us out immediately ...so..what happened?..There was a scandal like no other.Watergate...Nixon was forced to resign, and in 1976, we elected a Democratic President..Jimmy Carter. That is what happened...Yes, we are discouraged...but..we have lost before, and recovered completely before. If you would have told me then, we would elect an Afro-American Democrat from Illinois to be President 36 years later, I would have called you .."nuts" or said "What have you been smoking?" ..think about that..maybe those facts can help us now...
