Gaffe of the Decade? Will the media close in for the kill? Mitch McConnell already is trying to walk back

Mitch McConnell already is trying to walk back what he apparently said on CBS News this morning:

From http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505267_162-57455873/mitch-mcconnell-tax-code-already-extraordinarily-progressive-and-needs-to-be-changed/ :

"An earlier version of this article said, 'The United States tax code favors lower income Americans too much already and should be restructured to make it fairer to upper income earners, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said.' An aide to Sen. McConnell called to clarify that the Kentucky Republican has never called for lowering rates only on upper income Americans but said the code should be 'simplified' and taxes should not increase on anyone."

If this clip does not appear this evening on at least the "CBS Evening News", IMO everyone will know for sure that the "liberal media" is covering up for Big Money Republicans.

And if the President's Democratic Party surrogates and Super-PACs don't saturate paid media with this, IMO they do not want to win in November.

This is the most "reasonable" Republican leader speaking, minority leader of the "staid" Senate!

WHAT'S YOUR OPINION?

Did anyone actually see him say this on CBS News This Morning?

If there is an actual clip of McConnell saying the words in the OP, Big Media need not cover it for it to play a big role in the Presidential campaign and in EVERY campaign for Congress. This IMO would be among the best possible uses of paid media for Democrats.

I'm sorrry to say that I wouldn't be surprised if even liberal shows ignored it. However, that doesn't explain why all Dem elected officials don't mention it every time they're given air time. And that won't happen either.

And I wouldn't. As to why, I've given up wondering. It's true that both of those ladies have a myriad of wonderful stories they can cover nightly to bash the repugs, and this one may just not make the cut. My main beef is with the elected Dems who won't as a group bring this up whenever they get air time.

Remember, the last thing GE wants is for Big Oil to get back in the saddle again. All the promises of media rule changes in the world by Romney would not make up for what they would lose if oil prices go through the roof (increases manufacturing costs, decreases money reserves for durable goods purchases) and the nuclear industry is shut down for good by the coal and oil industries.

However, I would point out that this isn't really new. The republicans have foolishly been babbling about "the poor not having skin in the game" for awhile. Colbert and Stewart have already ripped on them for it several times.

I am certain someone will make use of this quote.

The US tax code doesn't take enough from poor people and takes too much from rich people.

We have to hurt the poor and middle class so the rich can do even better
than they are doing now because they are the ones we work for not the
American people.

BTW do not expect the media to hold Mitch accountable for this at all because
just remember last week it came out that Romney dressed up as a state
trooper and made traffic stops and that story just died.
