"Fighting nazis is an American tradition"

My favorite meme picture for the post-election period is the one that says "Fighting Nazis is an American Tradition. Stop the alt-right." It shows Captain America punching Hitler in classic golden-age style. I think it might be the perfect starting point for inspiring normal conservatives to renounce the hardcore alt-right, and from that point to maybe, at some later time, question a bit of their own common ground therewith.

I've decided that if Trump is a normal conservative we can survive, but if he goes alt-right he may be an existential threat, so the thing to do is attack and undermine the alt-right, which if done right could at the very least help divide his supporters. And when trying to bring along as many patriotic mainstream Americans as possible even if they're conservative, I think our most famous Hitler-puncher, Captain America, might be the perfect mascot for this campaign.

I am also trying to spread the hashtag #AmericansFightNazis for the same reason. If we can remind mainstream Republicans to be like Cap or like Indy, and heroically confront Nazis and their ilk as outsider enemies, then the process of winning back our country from the likes of Steve Bannon is well on its way to success.

We have to start with the overt, admitted white nationalist types. If we attack them, but not Trump (at first), we avoid making this about Republican vs Democrat, and instead make it about America vs Evil, which puts a lot more people on our side. Then if Trump sides with Nazis, people will start drawing their own conclusions, and if he doesn't, he'll at least be weakened by having to distance himself from them, and be in a position where he'll have to respect the rule of law more than he otherwise might.

A friend of a friend on Facebook whined about it being "plagiarism." Not my major concern as Nazis take over my country. I blocked the idiot.

As someone who has studied the Holocaust from a variety of sources and angles, as well as WWII (though, not as extensively and almost exclusively the European front), I can say, with all honesty, that no, "Fighting Nazis is not an American Tradition." The US was not overly involved prior to its joining the war in stopping the Nazis, including the many who roamed the streets of the US. Sure, there were a few attempts to stop local Bund meetings, but not anything earth-shattering. And while there was some support to our allies, mainly the UK, there was not a "tradition" of fighting the Nazis until Germany declared war on us. Then of course, there is the disgusting history of providing Nazis clemency (is that the right word?) after the war, provided they gave us something.

Frankly, I would say there is a "tradition" of ignoring Nazis until they are on our doorstep, or now, in our administration.

and a lot of conservative patriots will think of it that way, and they have a warm feeling about defeating Nazis. Let's tap into that when addressing the issue of the alt-right.

When something appears about the Southern Poverty Law Center, ALL of the Trump supporters say that the "left-wing media" makes up stories about racism. A few people I have read have said that the "alt right" doesn't exist. This, when it is put right under their noses. I've seen it time and again on Facebook and Yahoo. I have not seen ONE Trump supporter condemn the alt right, or acknowledge that white supremacist groups have celebrated Trump's victory. These people will NOT face the truth.

Only thing we can do is pressure the media to keep running these stories. Repeat, repeat, repeat. If we repeat it enough times, maybe something will stick.

Trumpies post all of the time about troops fighting and dying for ungrateful, "whiny" liberals. What about all of those who served in WWII? They never acknowledge that! It's a disgrace. I have so many (deceased) relatives who served in that war. Of course they were all Democrats, but...
