Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told members of his government they are not allowed to contact US President-elect Donald Trump or his administration without seeking prior permission.
A letter to all ministers from Cabinet Secretary Tzachi Braverman on Monday stated that any attempt to speak to Mr Trumps team must be made through the official channels of either the Prime Ministers Office or the Israeli Embassy.
The move comes after several public statements from Israeli government ministers on Mr Trumps election on November 8.
On Saturday, an open letter from right wing Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel addressed to Steve Bannon, Mr Trumps new chief strategist, appeared on Mr Bannons alt-right website Breitbart. It thanked the editor for his stance on the US-Iran nuclear deal, anti-Israeli student boycotts, and for creating a Breitbart Jerusalem bureau.

(118,696 posts)know he will rewrite longstanding foreign policy positions if it 'feels' right to him. Netanyahu and others national leaders must be terrified of their politicians going rogue and opening a dialogue with Trump.

(45,806 posts)to DT because of Breitbart's stance on Jews. The open letter sounds like he's in favor of them.

Bannon knows that. I'm sure Netanyahu is nervous he will lose control of the situation if he doesn't control who gets Trump's ear. Right now it seems the connection to Trump for Israel goes through Bannon. Bet Bibi doesn't want anyone to get to Trump and mess that up. It kinda implies Netanyahu doesn't trust Trump to not change his mind, piss him off or doesn't want to risk it in any way. And Trump is speaking about a peace deal already which must scare Netanyahu.
And then there is this on Trump: http://www.salon.com/2016/11/22/donald-trumps-transition-team-doesnt-trust-him-to-speak-for-himself/
