Keith for DNC

I searched on Twitter and found a link to a website for Ellison's DNC Chair campaign. I remain undecided about who I want to lead the party, but I do like Keith. He's my congressman, and I've always been impressed when I've seen him at DFL conventions and get out the vote events.

This is from his campaign webpage.

This election cycle, we did not motivate enough people to the ballot box.

We must champion the challenges of working families and give voters a reason to show up at the polls in 2018 and beyond.

We must build a bench not just for federal candidates, but for state and local candidates across the nation.

We also need a robust party organization in every state that prioritizes voter relationships over everything else.

We must invest in and empower our state and local parties by creating effective field operations, an enhanced and advanced voter file, and a culture of collaboration between candidates at every level. Let's put the voters first.

and so is being a congressman. I know he's old, but Dean sure was effective and I hated that Rahm forced him to resign and put Debbie in his place.

When I saw him speak at our congressional district and state conventions, he never mentioned his preference for Bernie. He instead talked about the importance of voter turnout. At the state convention in June, Nolan played to a majority pro-Bernie crowd by talking about his support for him, even after it was clear he could not become the nominee. I saw that as cheap pandering and frankly irresponsible. Ellison, on the other hand, sought to unify. He vigorously endorsed Clinton after Bernie lost and along with Franken headlined a number of Clinton/DFL voter turn out events. There was no smearing Clinton from him, even while Bernie was still in the running--not that I saw anyway.

Sure, I was a bit pissed he endorsed Bernie, but his district did end up supporting Bernie convincingly. He handled the whole thing well, and I respect that.
