When you go pick up your pie and the entire Clinton family is shopping 2
Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton and their baby grandson, Aiden, were spotted at a grocery store in Chappaqua, N.Y. on Wednesday, doing their Thanksgiving shopping.
Hillary Clinton joked that Bill was looking at cheese while she was taking pictures with other shoppers, according to NBC News.
"They were so relaxed and shopping for Thanksgiving dinner at the local village market," Valente told NBC News. "They were so nice talking to everyone, wishing them happy holidays.
Valente added that Hillary said, We must stay strong together no matter what. Thank you for your support."

(51,308 posts)that looks like a fake smile.
No smile in her eyes.
And I don't blame her a bit.

(51,308 posts)I see all of our pain in her eyes.
Funny, when I learned the horrid news that morning, I couldn't help but think how devastated she must have been feeling.
We're all devastated, but this cruel reality must be worse for her.
I'm still wearing my Hillary tshirts. And will continue to do so.

It's not 'ok,' and I don't believe I misunderstand you at all.

(51,308 posts)I supported her over Obama, though of course I voted for him twice.
Go find someone else to have a fight with, ok bud?
I'm with her. You, however...lol, never mind.

(51,308 posts)Mom is 90 and had to have a bone marrow biopsy yesterday.
Today I cooked and we're having a lovely meal.
We are all going to get through this horror of a presidency.

(86,005 posts)...so nice that you're both together.
I'm currently enjoying my elder status on turkey day (and missing the real elders).
Here's to family!

(51,308 posts)But I know what you mean.
We all miss my dad, though he was younger than mom...he considered himself the elder.

(6,551 posts)She is who she is, and we are so fortunate. It will be interesting to see what she does next.
But first, she has a few months to recover.

(66,467 posts)'her smile looks fake' nit-pickers are going to enjoy having Trump as President.
If Hillary saved a baby from being killed by an oncoming car, these same people would denounce her for robbing a funeral home of business...

(32,611 posts)to drive for years. My comment was about the hope she will soon get to. It was in no way putting her down. Instead, I was wishing her well as she normalizes her life.

Neither of us meant anything bad.
Apparently it's easier to attack a fellow Dem than go face the real foe.
Tsk tsk.

(28,343 posts)But the narrative of Hillary as "other" has been so pervasive it creeps into our thoughts and consequently, our language. Sometimes it's difficult with the written word to convey meaning because we lack facial expression and tone, which are often more important in human communication than actual content. Your post as written did not clearly communicate the hope and well-wishes I know you intended, and would instead likely read to a stranger as "otherization" of Hillary, of which there has already been so much.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Durham, I see it is a near perfect day in NC today. Enjoy.

(28,343 posts)It's so difficult to bring these things to the fore - obvious as they are, knowing the response will be so often defensive, reflexive or dismissal.
We simply do not have the luxury of continuing the charade.

(51,308 posts)I've been a Hillary supporter since way back.
Wished she'd got the nom over Obama.
I said there was no smile in her eyes. I'd say the same with my friends.
But hey, impute bad things into my comment all you want.
Sheesh.
You have a nice Thanksgiving now, ya hear?

(9,897 posts)Every time I see pictures of Hillary it brings it back all over again.
The goddamn election happened.
Wisconsin...wtf?
Michigan...rly?
Pennsylvania...GFY!
I literally have taken those states off my intended places to return to or visit during the next 4 years...which is hard for me since my family is from Michigan City, Indiana on the southwest border off Lake Michigan.
Regardless, I see photos of Hillary and I think to myself of what living slime is actually going to take office and I want to die rather than live in this shit hole country with the bigots, morons and hateful asshats that are proud of this...
It is NOT our national shame that Hillary was beaten...it IS our national shame HOW she was beaten, and that stain is just added to those of Native American genocide, African-American (and other) slavery, voter suppression, resistance to equal rights of ALL kinds and the fact that a broad swath of our citizens prefer to be lied to and given fantasy rather than face truth and work for common solutions.
Fuck THIS America...it is not worthy of respect. Goddamn it....I have again gone from sadness to a burning sense of rage. Again. It will be a miracle if I manage to not die of a massive heart attack in the next 4 years. An absolute miracle.
