Stein Raised The Fundraising Goal To Cover Lawyers Fees.

Last edited Thu Nov 24, 2016, 01:37 PM - Edit history (1)

A bunch of DU'ers are slagging Stein and not even bothering to read all the information available.

The minimum for simply filling in 3 states was @2.5 million without covering lawyers fees.

The Green Party has been very serious about Election Integrity and securing our votes.

Unlike the Democratic party which has its head up its ass regarding the ease with which electronic voting can be gamed.

She has Bob Fritikas on her team and he's co-written several books on the subject of BBV.

I think it was wise for her to initially ask for a sum that was obtainable in such a short time frame. It helped spur donations to see a goal that was within reach approach fruition. It bought her a little time now, a few days at least, to raise the rest before it is actually needed

Wouldn't she have known about those fees from the outset?

is taking this on.

That said I hope it doesn't empower Stein to damage future elections by running Green candidates in close races.

Initially it stated that the $2.5M covered the entire cost of recount in 3 states and in the event they raised less than $2.5M they would perform a recount in 1 or 2 states.

The donation page was amended to include the new $6M to $7M number only after they had raised nearly $2M and it was very obvious they would hit the goal. Sorry that is shady. The cost of filing was not $2.5M. It is $2.2M so your revised history explanation for the original goal doesn't even make sense.

The good news is we will see a recount although I don't think it will change anything* but Jill Stein is doing this solely for Jill Stein and her future presidential ambitions

* the recount of an electronic machine is "what is the total on that machine" and that is where any fraud would be happening.

I'm also pretty sure she cannot use these funds for anything else.

As soon as she got enough to file in the first state, that money was used to file. It will be that way for each state, money raised, file for recount in next state. After that, funds go to all the other stuff involved.

There was a post at twitter by Greg Palast that Stein called him first with her idea.

and all of the info was there. The filing fees and the fact that there would be additional legal fees as well. Yes they raised to goal number sometime during the night, but many gofundme pages do the same. They start with a modest goal (if you can call $2.5 Mil modest) and if they quickly hit the goal they raise it.

Let's get together and fund this and support it in the media and blogosphere. This is a great chance to learn the truth. At the very least we put up a fight. If we don't start fighting, this country is going down into a right wing top 1% coup. This is no time for an internecine fight between the Left and the DNCers.

The Guardian previously disclosed that a loose coalition of academics and activists concerned about the election’s security is preparing to deliver a report detailing its concerns to congressional committee chairs and federal authorities early next week, according to two people involved.

“I’m interested in verifying the vote,” said Dr Barbara Simons, an adviser to the US election assistance commission and expert on electronic voting. “We need to have post-election ballot audits.” Simons is understood to have contributed analysis to the effort but declined to characterise the precise nature of her involvement.

A second group of analysts, led by the National Voting Rights Institute founder John Bonifaz and Professor Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan’s center for computer security and society, is also taking part in the push for a review.
