(9,275 posts)I find a whole day in the kitchen with my favorite music to be therapy. Most assuredly needed this year. As long as DH cleans afterward.
Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce (canned) and 2 PA Dutch things, my grandma's "filling" and dried corn. Coleslaw, rolls, pumpkin pie, apple crisp.
The whole family is devastated by the election so no arguing there.

(4,033 posts)offered free dinners to eat in or take out. I got 2 dinners one for me & one for my 86 year old mother. There's white & dark meat, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, cole slaw. 2 slices of bread, a piece of pumpkin pie and a slice of apple cobbler.
I talked to the pastor and thanked him. He was wearing jeans and had the best walrus mustache. Me the agnostic liked him.

(2,749 posts)I don't cook that much but this is TG.
For the turkey I cheated I guess. I bought a turkey roll stuffed with a cranberry studded stuffing from Costco. It had a chutney topping. Oh yeah, it was good and kind of pricey. But then, it's TG and I knew I wasn't going anywhere.
In a way I'm glad - all my relatives here and a few others are Trumpsters and I just didn't want to deal with the crap. And I'm getting over a bad cold and I had to put my cat down yesterday. So I'm grumpy, sad, and still kind of sick.
You did right for yourself this year. Please continue to take care and get over the cold.
Your dinner sounds really good, btw. A stuffed turkey roll with the cranberries sounds very yummy.
Hugs and best wishes from afar, eleny

(2,749 posts)I think I did right, too. The dinner was tasty.
Now it's for an old movie and hugging my dogs. Dogs make everything better.

Oh! Halloween candy for desert.
My car is in the shop and I am unexpectedly home alone. Even the bars are closed.

(65,490 posts)any of the Thanksgiving dinners I have been invited to. Not only do I feel awful, but I wouldn't want to expose those families (all of which have kids, some of which have babies) to my nasty viral illness that has kept me miserable for 10 days now!
I might be one of the the only people to lose weight over the Thanksgiving holiday!

Also: mashed potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie, and a lovely salad with almonds and mandarin oranges.
Red wine and some good local craft beers.

Retrograde
(10,159 posts)for just me and Mr. Retrograde - small standing rib roast, potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts. Our big dinner will be on Saturday - which is also our 46th anniversary - turkey with cornbread stuffing (in the turkey) snd pumpkin pie, and whatever the guests bring as sides. And we'll open some of the good wines. I've already made the cornbread so it will be good and dry by Saturday morning, will do pies tomorrow.
