" Mitt Romney’s American Safari"

By Jonathan Capehart

"As we learned and saw during his quest to secure the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney has a habit of doing two things he apparently hopes will ingratiate himself to voters. One is flat-out pandering. The other is waxing amazed at what he just saw or who he has just met as if he were a traveler in a strange and distant land for the first time. This latter trait is so disconcerting that when the former Massachusetts governor was making his way through the South in March, I made this pithy observation.

With regard to Mitt Romney, poor guy, the only second time he’s had catfish ever and cheesy grits and a biscuit, it’s almost as if we’re watching Mitt Romney on safari in his own country."

What's ironic is that it's pretty much common knowledge all around. He can pander all he wants and try to come up with yet another teabagger soundbite, yet I don't think anyone is really buying it.

"I met a guy yesterday, seven feet tall. Yeah, handsome, great big guy. Seven feet tall! .?.?. He started a business..?.?. I mean I figured he had to be in sport. But he wasn’t in sport."

or

"I love this state. It seems right here. Trees are the right height. .?.?. I like seeing the lakes. I love the lakes. .?.?. I love cars."

Wotta a frigg'in moran.
