I hope Trump really is as stupid as he sounds

I say this because I still carry a slight wonder if Trump can be convinced to make a decision or two that might be good for this country. I already know the social destruction the repuglican party in power in the congress has in store for us. None of us will ever know why Trump won the electoral college but we are probably stuck with him. When I look on youtube and peruse the many videos of talking heads interviewing Trump over the last 8 years, I can only surmise he is the biggest opportunist in history with a shallow thought process. He doesn't appear to think deeper about an issue than his thoughts in his head from the last 10 seconds. Watching others try to get him to take philosophical positions on things is comical at best. Trump can not articulate past his cartoon view of what a President should be, or how he should act. Publicly, Trump still appears to be an over-reacting teenage boy on facebook and twitter. I don't think that's an act. So how long will it take him, if ever to mature? Who knows.

Unfortunately, he is making cabinet picks that further erodes my confidence in the hope that he has an ability to govern. Placing these strange so called alt-right racists or proclaimed supporters of antisemitism in positions of power is a serious mistake. I don't think Trump really knows this, nor has the personal power to realize it. He only listens to those that like him, even if that happens to be someone with bad intentions towards our democracy. So how do logical, caring, socially conscious people reconcile a Trump administration in the white house? I don't think we can. It would be the ultimate denial to the struggle for an enlightened society. We can only look for other avenues to channel our energies on the correction to climate change, human rights and constitutional stability for our society. Only by joining a dogmatic religion or belief system can your brain overcome the conflicts because they make a stable society irrelevant.

If the election results are credible, Trump has convinced enough voters in rural counties of swing states that he was the lesser of two evils, even though those voters probably got fed a steady stream of fake news and covered-up lunacy. I hope that there was no way some of those people knew some of the real truths and still made that destructive decision. Since the truth is now an anomaly, we may never know. I do know the absence of truth has caused a division in our society that continues to destroy us. It destroys families, social groups and friendships. When I look into the eyes of other Americans, I have to give them the excuse that they really didn't know why or who the voted for, but that they were programmed by a media that is stranger than fiction that George Orwell could ever put in a book.

So going back to my the title of this post, if Trump really as stupid as he appears, it means he might make a decision or two that accidentally benefits our society. Even a stopped clock is correct twice a day.

1. That's really my only source of hope at this point.

He's backtracked on many extreme positions in the last couple of weeks, and he seems to be bristly toward the ready-to-slash Paul Ryan faction.

Even so, he is a total disaster in every way. For example, will Scotland feel compelled to tear down the windmills near his property or face the wrath of the US government? The possibilities are hideous.

He probably started out as a man of above-average intelligence. But years and years of surrounding himself with sycophants and believing his own bullshit have taken their toll.

Could he make a good decision or two over the next four years? Possibly. But the same could be said of a Magic 8 Ball.

I think Ivanka is a liberal. She, and her husband, are the ones who will be telling orange what to do. Hopefully, IF my premise is correct, they can overcome the screeching jackals in his administration, and limit the damage to our country. I do not think that orange has the ability, or inclination, to make policy decisions. I've said this before, and I still believe it, he is cognitively impaired by something, either early Alzheimers's or a drug problem.

1 -Trump as the Executive Branch.

2 - Congress as the legislative branch.

NOW, as to Trump. As others noted, Trump only cares about Trump. He will do whatever he can get away within the parameters of the executive branch to benefit himself. No ifs, ands or buts. AND, we are going to be subjected to his free wheeling spats of insanity. He will influenced and manipulated primarily by Pence until such time as he gets tired of that, but we already are seeing how insanely bizarre the processes will be with his other hangerons using social media and what not to manipulate him.

It will be bad, overall, really bad. But fucking PALES in comparison to what congress is going to do.

Congress IS going to pass LAWS that SIGNIFICANTLY impact 1 ) Civil rights, all in their insanely counter intuitive framing of "protecting rights." The LGBT community and all minority groups are going to have any existing protections tore down and they will aggressively work to pass laws that attack them.

AND THAT WILL BE THE LEAST HORRIBLE THINGS THEY DO. They ARE going to pass devastating tax cuts for the rich that will fuck over the rest of us, and make no mistake, a GOOD PORTION OF THE IDIOTS IN THIS COUNTRY WILL EAGERLY LAP IT UP AND ASK FOR MORE.

ALONG WITH THIS, they WILL aggressively defund or completely eliminate programs supporting people who are in very tenuous situations.

ALONG WITH THIS, they WILL give away our public lands and let the dogs of commerce run unchecked through our environment.

ALONG WITH THIS they will fundamentally change our educational system to allow them to raid the tax payer cookie jar with no concern at all for the actual education of our people. THIS is the golden goose they have been breathlessly dying to get their hands on, with the early charter movements a tasty appetizer that has them ready for the full course meal.

AND, they will get their wish to turn SS and medicare over to profiteers.

Now, a lot of this will be enabled by him, as we are seeing with his picks for executive branch posts.

But, whatever he does there will hurt bad, but can be dealt with by a new POTUS. The shit they get done legislatively, we are going to have live with for the rest of our lives.
