Donald Trump could make 3 million a year off his own security detail

Donald Trump could make $3 million a year off his own security detail by making them pay rent at Trump Tower
Security for the President-elect is already costing New York City $1m a day
Will Worley

The US taxpayer could pay up to $3 million (£2.4m) to President-elect Donald Trump’s company in order to provide security for him at Trump Tower, it has been reported.

The Secret Service and NYPD are likely to need two floors in the New York skyscraper to house more than 250 security officers.

Mr Trump’s flagship Fifth Avenue building has priced vacant floor space at $105 (£84) per square foot, according to the New York Post, amounting to $1.5 million (£1.2m) a year per floor.

Donald Trump is going to make money off the Secret Service detail assigned to protect him

A report indicates it could cost taxpayers $3 million per year to protect Trump — and his companies would be paid

Matthew Rozsa

Donald Trump, the landlord, is going to be making money from taxpayers assigned to protect Donald Trump, the president-elect.

According to a report from The New York Post on Thursday, the Secret Service is in talks with the Trump Organization about renting two vacant floors of the 68-story Trump Tower. In order to protect the president-elect and his family, they will need to work with the NYPD to operate a command post containing more than 250 agents and police officers. Those two floors could cost more than $3 million each year.

As The New York Post reported on Tuesday, the vacant 17th floor of Trump Tower is priced at $105 per square foot, which would value it at $1.5 million a year. It includes six large south-facing outdoor terraces, private elevators, and polished concrete floors. Similarly, the 15th floor — which served as a headquarters for the Trump campaign — could be available, with the Federal Election Commission estimating that the campaign paid $169,000 a month on utilities alone while there.

after reporting on the cost for secret service to rent Trump Tower space, that it's not much different than the cost SS would incur if Hillary had been elected. It seems that they've already purchased the house next door to the Clintons in Chappaqua. And that was expensive.

And on that note, they ended the segment.

So somehow, in that one sentence, the comparison is drawn that there's really no difference between secret service buying property in Chappaqua and Secret Service paying expensive Trump Tower rental fees to the very man they are charged with protecting.

As if the cost is the story.
