Here's why Trump won: Guns; God; Racism

Guns: Tens of millions of people own guns in this country. They believed the propaganda that the Democrats would confiscate their guns and that the Republicans would expand their gun rights.

God: I'm not talking about everyone who goes to church on Sunday. I'm talking about the people who listen to whatever their biased pastors (and TV Jesus con men) tell them and they vote accordingly. Much of this goes on in the South, but it's also in many other parts of the country. It's a fanaticism that is on a par with the Taliban and even ISIS. It's about people who believe in male domination, and God's intentions which of course favor European white people.

Racism: See God above. This accounts for much of the racism in this country. Add to that those who (consciously, or subconsciously) are white supremacists.

I believe that these three issues (along with multiple voter suppression tactics) put Trump over the top.

On edit: Reason #4 was Hillary hatred. There really is a vast right wing conspiracy and they have spent the past 25 -30 years beating up on her.

...those issues are important to some, but they weren't Obama voters in 2008 and 2012.

Clinton lost because under-educated white voters were unhappy about their economic situation, and chose the guy who said there were easy answers (trader wars, "force" business to keep jobs in the US, kick out immigrants, etc.).

before too long.

BTW, it wasn't all under-educated people, or even white people. I know a bunch of people with advanced degrees (generally harder fields, like medicine, engineering, science) who voted for Trump. They were all possible Sanders voters, though.

Unless the trade imbalance is addressed, most people in the US are doomed to get poorer every year. They may not have found Trump too credible, but at least he believed it was a problem.

It was so over the top and the preachers were so phony. We were laughing at the ridiculous stuff they were saying. I see now why the orange hitler won these Christian rubes. He talked the same way to them.

Republicans hadn't gone on a two year witch hunt to drive her numbers down.
They even gloated about that. What is ironic if she would have used a government server the
Russians would have hacked into it, maybe that is what pisses them off so much.

Con's BS about bringing jobs back to the US. IMO it's impossible to do that unless some complete idiot eliminated corporate income taxes completely, and I don't THINK even the on would do THAT!

I predict that all those people who believed him are going to be worse off and more depressed after they find out they've been conned. With some it's already happening with their anger at him not continuing the investigating Hillary.
