Texas elector to resign rather than vote Trump

http://www.koat.com/article/trump-criticizes-recount-push-claims-millions-voted-illegally/8369927

A Republican member of the Electoral College from Texas said he will resign rather than cast one of the state’s 38 electoral votes for Donald Trump.

In the past, Art Sisneros told The Associated Press that he was wavering on supporting Trump because the Republican "is not biblically qualified for office."

Over the weekend, Sisneros posted in a blog and said "the best option I see at this time is to resign my position as an elector."

Texas doesn't require its presidential electors to vote in accordance with the state's presidential election results. Trump won Texas by around 9 percentage points and captured 290 overall electoral votes to Hillary Clinton's 232.

Texas electors meet in Austin next month to vote for president. By state law, they can vote then on a replacement for Sisneros.

presumably he'll be replaced by someone with no problem voting for trump, so his actions are largely pointless.

well, except for instead of being a basically faceless elector who helped in the process of making trump president, he's now a well-know, publicly visible ex-elector who helped in the process of making trump president.

in an apparently self-serving attempt to remove his name from complicity in trump's ascent to power, all he's doing is blasting both his name and his complicity across the media.
