Congressman Tom Price of Georgia will be Donald Trump’s choice as secretary of Health and Human Services, according to a person familiar with the process.
The expected nomination of the Georgia congressman was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which said that the announcement of Price’s selection could come as soon as Tuesday.
Vice-President-elect Mike Pence told reporters on Monday, “I look forward to being back at it first thing in the morning and there will be a number of very important announcements tomorrow.”
If confirmed, Price will play a key role in attempts by Trump to “repeal and replace” the Affordable Care Act, the 2010 healthcare reform legislation that has become a key issue of partisan contention.
