And how we will miss you! We will not see your like in the White House again for a long time, and more's the pity. In the face of massive obstacles, you persevered and got progressive changes done, despite constant obstruction from the Republicans. You improved life for millions with ACA and presided as President as LGBTQ Americans were able to marry the ones they loved
And you did that while people from both ends of the political spectrum maligned and attacked you. Your patience, calm, and dedication to service overcame all of that. As you leave the White House next month, remember that millions of Americans watched you, supported you and worked to help you achieve your goals.
You will be missed greatly. We hope we will be able to prevent the new President and Congress from destroying all you helped to change. We'll work hard to do that. You and your wonderful family will be remembered throughout our lives.
Thank you, Mr. President!

(146,341 posts)Sadly, we cannot. More's the pity.
What we can do is work to stop Donald Trump from destroying all of his accomplishments.

(2,966 posts)Wife and I re-watched the 2016 White House Correspondent's Dinner over the weekend, weeping. So funny, so sharp, and yet I feel like he already knew. *sigh* Still going to need to look to him for strength in the coming years.

(114 posts)Maybe Barack can fill in for Seth Meyers when SM is on vacation. He has the timing, the following and the brains. Or maybe a monthly political recap from the Pres. Explaining what is real in the news.

(114 posts)As much as I have listened to Barack speak, I always wanted to listen more. That is how much I will avoid 'Hitler without a plan' whenever I see him open his mouth. I think the only time I will listen to the Real Donald' speak will be on SNL.
