Unqualified people running administrative posts do cause deaths. Remember Brownie and Katrina?

I'm sure many fewer would have died if Brownie had known what he was supposed to be doing at the time, and it wasn't having dinner.

Maybe it's time to hold those types of people accountable and not just lose their post, or be fined. Jail time for them is in order. If they are willing to take a job like that, they had better be learning what their duties are or pay the consequences (and consequences should be outlined if there are none).

edited to add:
If people have to pay for the official's incompetence with their lives, there should be dire consequences for causing those deaths.

He was not only incompetent, didn't learn what his duties were, he was criminally negligent.

She ran the response to Hurricane Matthew very well. That is the one thing I'll give her credit for. It may have been the parameters of that kind of job but she was good at it. I wouldn't guarantee her being good anywhere, but UN Ambassador ain't the best choice.

Trump doesn't WANT anyone competent in that job. He wants someone so atrocious they're certain to fail and, in the process, prove once and for all that FEMA needs to be abolished.

Since he likes generals so much, how about Stephen Arnold - who was the commanding general of 10th Mountain Division during Hurricane Andrew and Somalia? Unfortunately for Trump's nefarious schemes Stephen Arnold knows disaster relief...unfortunately for Trump, what is good for Donald Trump is not good for America and vice-versa.

The administration will all be having a Twitter fight with a teenager or eating sushi and snorting cocaine off of a prostitute when Hurricane Mittens makes landfall or when the next disaster happens and what they are doing is waaaay more important.

So don't count on them.
