In 1980, or 1982 when former NY mayor Ed Koch was thinking of running for governor, he described a rural voter as someone who drives pickup truck and wearing gingham shirt.

Today I would add a gun slinging on his shoulder..

in ways the morons that voted for him have no understanding. They won't get their country back. What we all get is...the greatest unknown presidency since the 1800s. It s likely to suck but how bad will it suck?

It helps to remember that Time's Person of the Year often has more to do with impact and results than it does positive achievements. Their explanation for why they're making him POTY is loaded with some pretty overt criticism.

He's Person of the Year largely because he somehow won the presidency in spite of running as an unstable demagogue. I think that's the point they're making.
