If you want to support Senator Warren's request to audit President-Elect Trump's finances for conflicts of interest, the woman who answered the phone at the Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office said the most effective way to be sure my support counted was to email two administrators, Katherine Siggerud and Timothy Minnelli. Thank you Brad Richard. Their email addresses are siggerudk@gao.gov, minellit@gao.gov. There is a third email, congrel@gao.gov, through which they are tracking people who were urging support for an audit. You can send one email addressed to:
siggerudk@gao.gov, minellit@gao.gov, congrel@gao.gov

Re: Audit for President-Elect Trump's financial concerns
Dear Ms. Siggerud and Mr. Minnelli,
Im writing in support of Senator Elizabeth Warren's request for an audit of our incoming President-Elect Trump's finances, to prohibit conflicts of interest that would prevent him from carrying out the responsibilities of the office without corrupt influence.
Sincerely,

(35,454 posts)Thank you for your views. GAO conducts its work at the request of Congress using a non-partisan, fact-based approach. We will follow the same procedures in addressing this request as we do other requests from the Congress.

(158 posts)CLAIM: The Government Accountability Office is tracking emails sent supporting an audit of Donald Trump requested by Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
WHAT'S TRUE: The Government Accountability Office plans to respond to requests it has received about Warren's letter to the agency.
WHAT'S FALSE: The GAO said it does not have a total count of how many e-mails it has received connected to the post.

Warren and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Georgia) did send the GAO a letter on 23 November 2016 asking the agency to review Trump's business holdings. ,,,

However, the letter does not specifically mention an audit.
A GAO spokesperson confirmed on 30 November 2016 that the agency had received emails related to Warren's request, and that the office planned to respond to each of them. However, it did not have "a total count or volume estimate" for the amount of messages it had received as of press time. The lawmakers' request is currently under review.

(158 posts)It's that the GAO isn't tracking a count of the number of letters received, & that Warren & Cumming's request didn't specifically ask for an audit.
