http://www.salon.com/2016/12/16/source-donald-trumps-alleged-threats-against-hamilton-electors-arent-legalOn Thursday, Salon asked an anonymous member of the Electoral College whether the threats of political reprisal that the Hamilton Electors have had reported to them from possible Republican defectors violated 18 U.S. Code 594:
Whoever intimidates, threatens, coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose, or of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, at any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing such candidate, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
The elector replied as follows:
Anonymously, I believe the descriptions I have received from Republican Electors may very well fall under that description. However, I did not hear the pressure myself and I am not a lawyer.
Unpresidented!

(12,000 posts)One of Michigan's electors, Michael Banerian, has reported that he has received threats from those wanting him to vote against Trump. On Dec. 1 he responded to the threats by filing a police report in Bloomfield Township
"I began receiving threatening messages a couple of days before the election and they trickled in the weeks following that, said Banerian, whos about to graduate from Oakland University with a bachelors degree in political science. All of these threats, death wishes and generally angry messages were a direct response to my support for Donald Trump and being a Republican in general.
Bloomfield Township police declined to comment on the case Wednesday, saying its still under investigation. Banerian said hundreds of people left intimidating messages on his Facebook page since the election and he's also received an average of six to seven angry post election letters to his home each day. Nobody has threatened him in person"

(12,000 posts)I support rational Hamilton letters to electors regarding changing EC votes from Trump to someone else. I do not support death threats against people that disagree with me politically, do you?
