President-elect Donald Trump is going to continue firing off unfiltered tweets even when he heads to the Oval Office next month, and conservative radio host Charlie Sykes thinks its emblematic of his limited intellect.
Via Daily Kos, Sykes appeared on Lawrence ODonnells show this week and explained that Trump simply lacks the discipline and curiosity to think beyond 140-character blurbs on social media.
This is really going to symbolize the quality of this mans thought, he said. I mean, there was a time when we had presidents who read books. Now we have presidents who write in 140-character messages.
In fact, Sykes hinted that it wouldnt make sense for Trump to try to use more traditional means of communication as president because his thoughts arent big enough to make them necessary.

(82,849 posts)NBC isn't going to cross its business partner; Les Moonves is too busy counting his money to worry about the nation's welfare; and every grasping hand at Fox is pruney from being in the tank so long for their hero Trump.
If it is to be, it is up to us.

(46,775 posts)Not sure that Trump's lack of intellectual power is the main problem here. Rather, it's his unmistakable case of severe Attention Deficit Disorder.
From what I gather, Trump as a child was so hyperactive and unruly his father sent him to a military boarding school. But apparently that only suppressed his flighty mind, it didn't cure it. The ghost writer for Trump's supposed autobiography has since stated that he's never met anyone with a shorter attention span. This is also evident listening to Trump speak at his rallies or in interviews. He can't stay on topic, and he often changes his positions 180 degrees during his talk, sometimes in the same breath.
No, it's not just that Trump is stupid. It's that he's stupid and unstable.

(12,827 posts)To lie, he'd have to have a relationship with the truth. But he has no relationship with the the truth, doesn't know the truth, and doesn't care to know the truth. Lying is purposeful and requires discipline. Trump, on the other hand, is just wrong. He jabbers and rambles, saying whatever comes to mind that he thinks could make him look smart. So he's wrong a lot. And he's also wrong that it could make him look smart. It doesn't.
Now, his advisors and surrogates: they lie through their teeth.

(6,232 posts)he has spent years empowering Walker and his thugs. NOW he see the light? Don't trust him. His talks show has been a the center of the destruction of the once great state of Wisconsin.

(65,337 posts)I get what you're saying, and normally i'd agree, but making this public statement is sure to incur the wrath of the people who would normally be his audience. I'm not seeing the upside of him saying this, given how he got to where he is.

I was gonna say, "There was a time"??? We currently have a president who reads books. Maybe what Charlie really means is Republican presidents. W was often seen carrying books, but I'm still suspicious how many of those he actually read.
