If you have been to a Springsteen show, you will know that a segment of the crowd will actually boo (not Bruuuce) Springsteen if/when Springsteen brings up social justice issues from the stage.
No doubt Christie would be one of these people who apparently either got lost on their way to a Ted Nugent show or just plain don't understand Springsteen's art.
These are the same people who jumped on the Bruce bandwagon during the often-misunderstood "Born in the USA" tour.
Most rock & roll has strong roots to the liberal movement. I'm old enough to remember that we were a relatively small sub-culture who embraced artists such as Dylan and Springsteen - among many, many others - early in their careers. I also remember many of our peers on the right dismissing these artists as "commies" or some other ridiculous epithet until the artist achieved vast commercial success.
It's our music. If they don't get it, they should stay away.
