GOP lameness revealed: Dartmouth-YouGov Poll, Question 7
So I'm digging through the data in the recent Dartmouth-YouGov poll, and I come across this gem, which basically explains our entire political mess and why the GOP will never, ever be able to fix it. Here are the GOP answers to this question:
Q7: Which of the following would you support as ways to reduce the nation's budget deficit? Check
all that apply.
Major cuts in military spending - 15.6%
Major cuts in Social Security - 13.5%
Major cuts in Medicare - 15.5%
None of the above - 53.3%
And there it is. The GOP will obstruct legislation, shut down the government, stage pathetic rallies and wear ridiculous hats in favor of deficit reduction, but the overwhelming majority oppose any measures to DO what they say they want to do. This survey's been getting some press for other reasons, but to my mind THIS is the question the press should be focused on, under the headline:
GOP Voters Want Solutions But Can't Think of Any.
(For the record, the majority of Dems and Independents supported tax increases, and a very large plurality (over 40%) of each supported military cuts.)
