Overt racism is in! It's probably a good thing.

Now, instead of hiding out, racists are free to expose themselves for all to see.....and we can get a true measure of just how far we are from a "post-racial" society. Regarding the President and his family.......it is a fact, that from day one, Obama was afforded zero respect by Republicans. A substantial percentage of Republicans still believe he's a Muslim (as if there would have been something wrong with that) and still believe he was born in Kenya, which, if true, is irrelevant since his mother was a US citizen…...for the record, he was born in Hawaii. He and his family (his children included) have been the target of continuous, pervasive and overt racism. His effigy has been openly lynched numerous times over the years. He and his family has been called every disgusting and racially vile name in the book. He and his family's images have been openly and grotesquely photoshopped by racists on the internet and in public…...with tacit approval by mainstream Republicans across the board. During a SOTU speech, he was heckled by a Congressman who also happened to be a shameless deadbeat dad. Republicans openly questioned and denigrated his education and mocked his accomplishments. They ignored the fact that he was raised by a single mom, though not poor, certainly not wealthy. He is a textbook example of a person with a modest middle class background who has worked hard to achieve great success. Obama has been a faithful and steady husband and father. He is in a stable marriage and has raised two moral and well-adjusted daughters. Finally, and incredibly, when racists crawled out of the shadows and into the open, Obama was subsequently blamed for racially dividing the country.
