Celebs call on Congress to 'Stand Up' to Trump
By Judy Kurtz - 01/03/17 10:30 AM EST

#StandUpForUS from Art Not War on Vimeo (at link).

A slew of high-profile stars — including Sally Field, former "The View" co-host Rosie Perez, “Westworld’s” Jeffrey Wright, Keegan-Michael Key and “Boardwalk Empire” actor Steve Buscemi — are calling on Congress to “vigorously oppose” any of President-elect Donald Trump’s “racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, anti-worker, anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, anti-environmental policies.”

“We demand that you block nominees who threaten the rights of women, the LGBT community, people of color, immigrants and the poor,” Key and Field say in the video released Tuesday, the same day the 115th Congress is poised to be sworn in.

The message — which asks supporters to sign a MoveOn.org petition to be sent to members of Congress — was created by the social media campaign Humanity for Progress, formerly known as the pro-Hillary Clinton group, Humanity for Hillary.

“The majority of Americans, regardless of who they voted for, did not vote for racism, for sexism, or for xenophobia. And yet, Donald Trump won,” the entertainers say.

“You represent us in Congress,” Perez tells the camera in the video, title "#StandUpForUs" directed by Emmy Award winner Liz Garbus.

“You are our last line of defense,” author and TV host Janet Mock adds.

“And we want you to know that we are with you,” the performers, along with religious leaders and activists, say.

“We won’t remain silent. We’ll work harder to mobilize our votes, and our communities. But we need you and expect you to have our backs,” the video’s participants say.

The celebs, who also include “Orange is the New Black’s” Lea DeLaria, “Olive Kitteridge” star Zoe Kazan and fashion designer Naeem Khan, demand lawmakers “protect our civil liberties” and “use your congressional powers to obstruct … {and} defeat anything that violates our core values as diverse Americans.”

I don't think celebrity is a win this year. They failed at the electorals and other times. All Americans should call to get attention.
