Sort of Iced-In in St. Paul

Streets and sidewalks were coated with about 1/8" of ice this morning. I put IceMelt on walkways, but we decided to just leave the cars in the driveway today. The joys of living in the upper Midwest.

I did my shopping yesterday, so we don't really have to go out today. Lots of people do, so they'll be driving on the streets and helping to get rid of that ice all day. Some days, I like working out of my home.

My flamethrower is on the fritz, though. Something with the ignition. I'll get it fixed as soon as I can get to the flamethrower parts store.

that ice is in no hurry to melt here in southern MT. Glad I'm not further north, it's worse in that direction. Since I don't have a job right now, I am glad I have no reason to have to go outside after I tend to the horse... I wear a snowmobile suit to walk around out in the cold after it hits -10F, it's highly insulated coveralls with wind breaker shell, I can put it on over my base layer and still work up a sweat at -50F... standard outerwear in this neck o' the woods.

Stay warm, this air mass is a slow moving thing and will take at least a couple more days to move on... wood stove needs more wood, later!

It's going to be cold for a few days. Oh, well. Tomorrow, we'll be going out, though. But, for today, we can stay in. They'll put down salt on the main roads today, so things will be somewhat better tomorrow. Not on my residential street, though. But at 5 MPH on a level street, I can make it to the salted, high-traffic road.

Days like this is when I wish I had studded tires. Not legal here, though, unfortunately.

your area a couple days after it's done here. We are allowed to have studded tires because salt is not allowed on the roads here... too close to Yellowstone NP and a huge wilderness area adjacent to that, environment is too sensitive around here. But I just wear all-weather radials all year 'round and that's all I ever needed, never been stuck in my old 4Runner. I have recently moved from 6700ft elevation to 5200ft and it's a bit milder here but far more wind being a big valley. The good part about that being snow doesn't pile up for long anywhere because the wind will relocate it, we don't shovel snow here and I like that part but I have suddenly become more appreciative of my outerwear with windbreaker shell!!

It's predicted to warm up by the week-end here so there's only a few more days of it.
