Headline SHOULD be that there was such massive outcry that despite holding all the power they needed, GOP couldn't go through with it.

Don't underestimate the importance that out of the 2017 gate, Dem activism stopped GOP's ethics stunt in its tracks. Trump felt the pressure

I laugh at a lot of posts but I usually don't say anything. Maybe because it is not the thread topic. I don't know.

They tried to sneak it in and failed miserably. The cynicism over this, and speculation that republicans will just get more clever in the future, doesn't jibe with the arrogant bungling we just witnessed.

(17,200 posts)I frankly can't understand why they'd bother, it's not as though the Ethics Committee actually does anything. Which makes me wonder if this was a catspaw for something else.
But the arrogance of ignorance cannot be ruled out.

All fuckers who vote for cutting taxes for billionaires by ditching services for disabled children should be stalked and their actions publicized and they should be shown no mercy.

(50,950 posts)We have so many here, and obviously the vast majority of us agree about SS, ACA, Medicare, Medicaid. We should be identifying any Dems who look like they might help Republicans on any of those issues, and we should be inundating them with letters, emails, texts, tweets, facebook, etc.
Then every one of us should be contacting Congress people from multiple states, not just our own, to let the Republicans know the barbarians are at their gates, and their actions are not going unnoticed. If each of us here took 10 states and spent a half hour for 10 days to contact each representative on each of those ten states, we'd have tens of thousands of contacts to each of those reps.
I'm going to try some posts to stir up this kind of activity.

(153,164 posts)because they are drunk on power, corrupt and dumber than fuck......there was a lot of anger, resulting in lots of calls from constituents that made them back off - Trump, knowing this, gets on Twitter and acts like he is the savior, but is slimy enough not to TRASH the action, but just to say THIS ISN'T THE TIME, so it looks like HE IS IN CONTROL RIGHT NOW, when of course the action will be taken at a later time......his idiotic, cult-like fans EAT IT UP because they are EASILY FOOLED.....heck, their belief in propaganda is what made them VOTE for him
