Trump didn't shoot anything more than a half-ass-covering tweet, complete with a sop to the republican ethics saboteurs about the 'unfair' ethics office.

The media is overplaying Trump's influence because some of them jumped on the meme early then as usual the rest parroted the early birds, making it conventional wisdom, when they should have done their own reporting and coming to their own conclusions.
When opinions are substituted for facts, no one wants to look like they have a wildly different set of them.
