Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney 53-37 percent in Florida among Hispanic votes, according to a new poll from Latino Decisions (which produces great polls) and the liberal group Americas Voice. Error margin: 4.9%. Fifty percent said they were more enthusiastic about Obama since he announced he would ease deportations of young undocumented residents.
The 16-percentage point lead is where Obama needs to be, at least as measured by his win in Florida over John McCain in 2008, when Obama's Hispanic margin was 15 points.

That's A LOT closer than I thought it would be. Only 53% for President Obama? I guess all the republican Cubans in Florida make this one closer, huh?

(40,416 posts)Jan Brewer, and Rmoney himself, may have handed the Grand Canyon State to Obama in November.
I would like to see those kind of numbers spread elsewhere. I don't think Rmoney can win in November without the Latino voters. He already has the blacks, the LGBT community, and women pissed off at him.
But, he still apparently has white males, Mormons, and evangelicals, plus maybe a good chunk of libertarians. I don't think that has a hope of winning for him.
Also, we don't know what is going to happen in Tampa. The last thing Rmoney needs is to be bloodied by a floor fight at the convention. From Ron Paul's actions at state conventions in several states, I suspect that he has something up his sleeve.
This may get very interesting. And maybe a bit scary.

(8,556 posts)The other states are where this is going to matter. Mitt's going to have to fight hard for Virginia and Colorado. He might get one, but not both. He may lose both too. Nevada is probably already out of reach for him.

(8,556 posts)But if Brewer can get in and retain support, I think the Mittster can win there. It's a fairly conservative state.
But Arizona always goes Republican. In order to win, Romney has to flip a few states from last time. And he's going to have a lot of trouble doing that.
