Think of what unlimited terms with Bush and Reagan would have been like. It is those type of presidents that is why we have the law.

i'm not particularly keen on term limits myself, but the evidence is clear that democracy, or at least our version of it, is not remotely up to the task of removing inferior politicians.

it may have the effect of keeping us from having bad presidents for too long, but that's not why we have it. it was very specifically passed because we had a very, very *good* president and the other party couldn't stand it.

as for reagan getting a third term, i don't think that would have happened. the inner circle knew what was up with him at that stage and would not have had him run again. he was able to keep it hidden by minimizing contact with the public and the media, and he would not have been able to do that as an active candidate seeking a third term.

and shrub obviously would have gotten his ass handed to him had he run for a third term.

The fact that anyone could find Donald J.Trump superior to Barack Hussein Obama is incomprehensible without the existence of a deep and destructive racism.
