Senator John McCain

If McCain had an early hand in puting this together/researching-sourcing, factchecking etc, give that man another medal. He hasn't always been on our side, but policy differences I can at least respect from a True Patriot, and he said as much about then-candidate Obama (for which he was nearly tarred and feathered by his own party). Trump fucked with the wrong survivor, it seems.

The Leadership were briefed before the election (that means Ryan and MCCONNELL) and they didn't do squat, but from what I understand, McCain was into reseaching this problem well before then. I would never say that McCain is a man prone to revenge, but his own party's Deplorables have hated him for a long time, sooooooooo... maybe it will turn out that at the end of the day, he will have earned a round of applause from us (or, at least, a quiet and respectful acknowledgement that he's not quite the same as the rest of them).

'Angels and Ministers of Grace, defend us.'
Resist.
Peace.

2. Trump Basically Called McCain A Loser Because He Got Caught....

I think it's safe to say that this is probably McCain's last stint in Congress. I don't see him running for another term. So what does he have to lose here if he goes after Trump on this damning story.

Though I never really liked McCain's politics - he did fight for our country and has pride in our country. I can understand if McCain has enough guts to say that Trump is an embarrassment to the US of A and that he is not qualified to be our president.

We're just a few short days away from Trump taking office. This might be the Hail Mary pass to keep Trump from the presidency.

3. Problem is, whats the Constitutionaly legal remedy?

The Electoral College done voted. Legislativley, Congress cant do dick until AFTER he's sworn in now. It's not like the FBI is gonna go and arrest him...maybe the EC can attempt a revote, but that will certinaly require a suit to be filed, and no way in hell the SC is going to insert itself into this unless the Constitutional basis for doing so is rock-fucking-solid (not after Florida). I suppose yes he could be sowrn in and then immediatly be brought up on impeachment charges, but since that would originate in the House, that doesnt seem likley. Were stuck with this, regardless of how much of a treasonous asshole we now KNOW him to be.

From the moment Cheeto nominated him, the Republicans knew they had an "Ace in the Hole". Trump will either be impeached or resign in office. Depending on IF the News Conference happens at 11 am ET, what the idiot says in it will determine IF he even takes the Oath of Office.

But if the Idiot does, he WILL NOT be in Office for any more than one year. Pence is like a Bride in Waiting. Straight up.

I don't think there's much love between McCain and Trump.

This is definitely a Hail Mary pass. The chances of it seceding in stopping Trump are about the same as a Hail Mary working in the last few seconds of an NFL game. Trump will just deny it. I doubt that even pee can penetrate Trumps Teflon coating.

and it's just part of his beliefs. If HIllary were to get into office he would be pushing for the same and maybe even tougher measures than she would .

but it's to his credit that he does what he thinks is best for the country and not personal revenge .

12. He has a lot to lose, with someone like DT controlling the FBI and the IRS.

Senator McCain took this action knowing that DT could decide to target him as a political enemy.

He is a hero no matter how this turns out.

I know there's some honor in there somewhere - I do think of him as a hero - but it's hard to defend him when he pimps for rightwing garbage. Nice to see some of his honor returning.

Our very democracy is on the line. And Congress is full of greedy bastards that are only seeing dollar signs.

Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan aren't any better than Trump.
