Interesting- MSNBC says Trump cannot be given copies of any security briefing IF...

He is at Trump Tower. so that's the loophole he will use about this information - and distract us. Security briefings are also to be an issue w hiring his son in law Jerod- even if they allow him to be hired (using a special provision created specially for the First Lady) he cannot be given a high security clearance- which should eliminate him for the job!

What the hell?

from the briefing - all he had to do was read it - you know, like the President does..they have the paper work (report)..to feign stupid of info - he didn't read it...this IC guy said they only get so much time to give an overview..the paperwork (report) is provided..

is the most vile, condescending lying POS I have ever heard on the air - our media is totally letting us down..to think we have to turn to the Guardian or BBC for some level of truth -

Focus on the meat of the matter..exactly -where there is smoke, there is fire..and our so called journalists need to keep peeling back the onion..

Have to give it to Mccain..maybe this is how he can start to build back any legacy he has left (this is the only time I have agreed with him)

It's possible he couldn't be "given" them (no secure storage at Trump Towers), but he could certainly be shown them, and their contents discussed.

sitting there with his fingers in his ears, chanting "LA LA LA CAN'T HEAR YOU".

I'm also remembering that Trump's lawyers insisted they always meet with him in pairs, as he had a habit of "misremembering" or denying what had been discussed.

If they don't already, the security services should video record all his briefings as a matter of course.

Also, did those "witnesses" of his have security clearance? Does anyone in his team yet?

So many questions!

The whole thing where Kelly is. It on the same page as Trump? That's to deflect from the main point of whatever they're discussing.

The story coming out of Team Trump was that they were never given those pages. And they had some plausibility there because they would not literally be given them to takeaway because they were at Trump Tower and not the WH?

I'm sure that they decided on other stories later. They put out 3-4 slightly different responses to everything and that in itself seems to be to get people off their scent.

I'm very curious about those transparency rules that should go into effect when he is POTUS. Won't they take away his phone? Will he be able to put up a bigger smokescreen if he stays out of the WH? Very curious and concerned about that.

members.

“Security clearances are not mandated for the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, Supreme Court Justices, or other constitutional officers,” a recent Congressional Research Service report explains. “The criteria for election or appointment to these positions are specified in the U.S. Constitution, and except by constitutional amendment, no additional criteria (e.g., holding a security clearance) may be required.”

In fact, the security clearance system itself is an expression of presidential authority. Its scope and operation are defined in an executive order (EO 12968), and its terms can be modified by the President at will.

And if the President wished to grant access to classified information to a family member, for example, there would be no legal barrier to doing so. See “Trump Will Have Wide Latitude to Let Family Into Government’s Secret Circles” by Mark Landler, New York Times, November 16."

that mentions any powers and privileges of the president-elect.

I'll repeat: until the inauguration, Trump is not president. Otherwise, there would be two presidents simultaneously. So Trump cannot confer clearances on anybody under the regulations you've cited till then.

I haven't disputed he can be briefed at his residence (the problem seems to be that Trump Tower has no secure storage for classified documents, so he couldn't be given possession of them), nor that his son-in-law can be hired as a presidential aide (though Trump won't be president till inauguration day).

The issue arose as to who these "witnesses" (note plural) Trump claims he has may be and whether they currently have clearance to sit in on such briefings - IOW, whether he's talking though his ass again.
