There are two allowable ways to get rid of a president.

Under Article I, Section 2, the House of Representatives has the sole power of impeachment. Under Article I Section 3, the US Senate than has the sole power to try an impeached official who is removed from office by a 2/3 vote. Failing that, the official remains in office.

The only other method is described in the 25th Amendment:

Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.[3]

Which basically states that his cabinet officers have to vote that he is incapacitated and incapable of fulfilling the duties of his office.

Does anybody here think that either of these would happen under this upcoming administration?

Those are the only tools we have, my friends.

Few Republicans in Congress are fans of Trump (apart from appreciating the electoral win). They would be perfectly happy to dump him and bring in Pence.

But therein lies our darkest horror. Pence is a cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs theocrat.

The path to Nixon's impeachment cleared considerably after Agnew got popped for being a corrupt motherfucker. How many skeletons are clattering around in Pence's closet?

But yeah, we have to depend on Congress to impeach Trump when the time comes. The way Republicans have put party before country in the last 30 years, though, I can't say I'm optimistic.

There is nobody from whom we can "demand" a new election our process for doing so.

Of course... Impeachment gives us President Pence and a VP that doesn't have to face the voters.

There is no "citizens' arrest" for treason. "We" can't do anything of the sort.

The Feds (hint... run by Trump in a few days) can charge people with treason. But for presidents, that's called impeachment.

Not right away of course. He still has half the population behind him (for some baffling reason). But I can see that the GOP is licking its lips for some future moment when Trump, even Trump, goes too far and starts to erode his support in the deplorable community. Then they will pounce. Once they get to a point that they feel they can replace the deplorable vote with their traditional Republican voters that may have stayed away from voting for Trump.

Because after that, they have Pence who they can control and go on to carry out their agenda of destruction without any surprises or unpredictable behavior.

Do it right now! Nullify the election and conduct a new one.

We're waiting.

It would be great if a) Trump gets impeached and removed, b) Pence out of the goodness of his heart and for the healing of his nation names Hillary as his VP and then immediately c) resigns due to his mere association with a traitorous presidential campaign, thus correcting the overall error of the 2016 election and seeing to that the popular choice of American voters assumes the office of the Presidency.

But Mike Pence is not anything close to that sort of person.

Best case scenario is that we have a weakened President Pence who reeks of residual urine from Trump until 2020.
