If you think about it, 5 years ago was when Trump decided to run (after the 2011 correspondents dinner) for president. Maybe he and Putin figured it could be a beneficial relationship. Putin would help Trump get elected and Trump would help Russia by letting it take over a few Nato countries that aren't paying their dues anyway.
I believe Trump conspired with Russia to hack the dems, that Russia has shit on Donald and all the rest of it. Glad to see it out in daylight but not sure it alone will change anything.
drip drip drip. Trump is an unsavory character and his bad temper and thin skin might get the best of him.
My favorite part of his latest tweet storm was that we are getting in our "last shot" at him. This will not be the end.

(3,702 posts)through their bugging and surveillance was that she contradicted herself from publicly stated positions on policies.
Here they had been getting all this info on Trump and Clinton, and ooh they got some nasty shit (err piss) on Trump. But I read at least twice that there was nothing about Clinton's conduct or behavior that was embarrassing or bad, just comments on policies.
They had nothing on Hillary (or Bill - surprise!).

(7,286 posts)if I read it correctly....that the Trump guys were supplying information to the Kremlin on Russian oligarchs living in the US....in essence spying for Russia on those maybe in conflict with the Kremlin....
If I were those Russian oligarchs in the US, I would be careful. I would also be upset& manage my business with Trump much more differently
I'm guessing Manafort may be a marked man, Russian oligarchs don't play nice

(2,157 posts)The intelligence community implicated these individuals in conspiracy of meddling in the US Election per orders from the highest level of the Russian Government.
Since they were diplomats I believe it would have been against the law but as opposed to simply kicking these individuals out they should have brought them in for questioning regarding suspicion of espionage or some serious crime with a life sentence that would scare these people into divulging everything they know about the Trump Putin relationship and the Russian interference in the Election...
Out of 35 people being questioned knowing that they could be facing a long prison sentence, 1-5 out of 35 people are likely to be scared enough to tell everything if they are offered a deal...
Again im not a Constitutional Lawyer so I don't know how legal this would have been..
I looked back at the buzz feed report.
The claim is that Trump was supplying information on Russian oligarchs and their families business in the US, according to the source Putin was "preoccupied" with them.
I presume these are Russian oligarchs who fled from Putin with state or state borne wealth.
In other words Trump was helping Putin with his opponents in America, and Putin in turn was helping him with their mutual opponent, Hillary Clinton ( whom Putin "hated and feared" .
My overall point is: these oligarchs living within the US whom Trump may have betrayed to Putin will not be too happy to find this out
In fact, now that I think about it, they may have had something to do with this report, or now may seek revenge in other ways.
If Trump screwed over Russian oligarchs or perhaps Russian mafia, he will have more than CNN to worry about
To the point of the thread, this was a surprise to me

Also suprises me that I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
