Why we marched

There's a lot of RW confusion about why we marched on 1/21. I posted this on a Fox FB page and my first response was a thank you for a coherent reason, in addition, the woman wrote that if she read this beforehand, she would have joined in. Here's what I wrote:

I’m surprised about the outrage regarding the women’s march on Saturday. I’ve read that woman are totally equal, and if not, then look at countries like Saudi Arabia and be happy you’re not there.
The fact is, women are not equal. I was in a male dominated field and was told by a number of men that they wouldn’t work with me JUST because I was a woman. I had a TA in college tell me he graded my exam severely (compared to others) because I was a woman. When I was a teen, I was almost raped, luckily it was interrupted and nothing happened. Even buying guitar strings was a strange experience, as if women didn’t play guitar.
Then there’s the many misogynistic comments that I’ve heard to my face and behind my back, that were embarrassing & infuriating, not to mention the ass grabs, the boob grabs (yes that happened), and the daily harassment that lasted months from a man I wouldn’t have lunch with.
When a woman’s car breaks down – she’s SCARED!
When walking alone and a car pulls up – she’s SCARED!
When the doorbell rings and it’s an unfamiliar man – she’s SCARED!
When she’s at a park, and a man sees her walking alone with her dog, and decides to follow her – she’s SCARED!
I won’t even get into the 80 cents to every dollar a man makes.
If you’re a woman and have never experienced any of this, then you either live in a bubble or are lucky.
The march is about women saying “ NO, you can’t treat me like a “thing”. You can’t do what you want with my body”. Why do women feel they need to say this? Because a man was just elected who was on tape saying crude things about women, and now, since HE got away with it, then others may feel the same thing, and WE WON’T ALLOW IT. Strength is in numbers, and we all saw the millions, all over the world. Hopefully, when some jerk feels he can grab a woman’s private parts, he’ll think twice.

I hope you don't mind - I copied and pasted this on my Facebook page - I think it really speaks to ALL women, not just the democratic ones - I've seen lots of conservative posts about how they don't understand why the fuss is about.
