My experience with whistling past the graveyard

I remember like it was yesterday when Reagan won his first election. I was so depressed but I can remember saying to my wife, Well, how bad can things get?" Trying to make us feel better I guess.

Well, it didn't take long for me to find out just how bad things could get. Spent the better part of the next 6 years laid off from my job.

Needless to say things got very bad. Scrounging around from one crappy job to the next. Never really did recover from that.

I sure am not going to make that mistake again.
