Medicaid Is The Most Likely Road To Universal Care. That Is Why They Want To Kill It.

Medicaid is the closest model of what universal health care would look like. Everyone would pay taxes to support it and everyone would be eligible for it with one present exception. Income and assets would be no barrier to getting health care under Medicaid. And it would include long term care as well.

Also Medicaid would not be related to having worked. It is just everyone would be covered and have access. Plus there would be NO insurance companies taking 40-50% off the top. WE forget that insurance companies make about 40-50% grow profit on their policies and they have to limit care to make money.

like them because it helps their buddies and cost the government less. Anything to tear it down.

raise the amount of "wealth" a family can have and still qualify. Since the dollar amounts were set in the 70s, that means what was supposed to be a state insurance program for the poorest workers has morphed into a plan for the destitute, only. Before the ACA, if you had an income or any savings, you were ineligible.

If they try to kill Medicaid, the unforeseen consequence will be nursing homes full of frail elderly people with no way to get paid and no place to turf those poor old folks off to, since hospitals will resist admitting them because they won't get paid, either, once the Medicare cap runs out.

Either the Trumpers are going to have to legalize euthanasia or they're going to have to start an even more expensive government program to avoid having all those old folks stacked like cordwood on the street. They'd better sell any stock in nursing home chains, too, because those places are going out of business fast.

Pass the popcorn, the next few months are going to be lots of fun to watch.
