What's less informed than a Fox News watcher?

The answer is someone who watches no "news" whatsoever and gets their so-called information from hearsay and Internet chain letters.

I went to a family gathering this weekend and discovered that I have relatives who believe, among other nonsense, that Obama is a Muslim because he never appears with a flag (!?!). Now these are perfectly nice people whose main fault is that they're utterly uninformed and are unwilling to get informed. Many of them are seniors who aren't on the Internet and none of them watch news of any kind, mostly on the grounds that it's "depressing."

I'm feeling pretty damn discouraged about the state of our country right now.

But avoiding it doesn't change its nature.

A lot of my family feed off the Fox News teat and are constantly agitated about Obama.

I can remember when family get-togethers weren't a test of your political will. You know, we'd just eat the potato salad and talk about other stuff....

anyone realizes. There was a piece about that very phenomenon in Sunday's Cleveland Plain Dealer. People believe what they want to believe, no matter how ridiculous it is.

(snip)

".....a couple of readers wondered why The Plain Dealer didn't report the "news" that an angry Barack Obama stormed away from the lectern after an acrimonious press conference and kicked open the door before walking out of the room. Well, it is true that the newspaper did not, because it usually doesn't report on skits on the Jay Leno show, which is where that particular video clip originated."

but I think the ones who are constantly agitated though, it is race and fear based.

A friend of mine claims he does not watch FOX or listen to AM right wing radio which based on his job I would say he most likely doesn't have time to do this, at least during the day. But, he interacts with several people who do have the ability to get the latest right wing rant.

He may be a little worst than those who actually get this information first hand. He is getting misunderstood misinformation.

Is "Are you willing to fight for it?"

It seems like it's becoming plainer, and plainer what is going to be required of us.
