On 26 Jan, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists may change their doomsday clock.

Here is their statement in advance of the announcement.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will host a live international news conference at 10 a.m. EST/1500 GMT on January 26, 2017, to announce whether the minute hand of the historic “Doomsday Clock” will be adjusted. The decision is made by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' Science and Security Board in consultation with the Board of Sponsors, which includes 15 Nobel Laureates.

Factors influencing the 2017 deliberations regarding any adjustment that may be made to the Doomsday Clock include: a rise in strident nationalism worldwide, President Donald Trump’s comments on nuclear arms and climate issues prior to his inauguration on January 20th, a darkening global security landscape that is colored by increasingly sophisticated technology, and a growing disregard for scientific expertise.

In January 2016, the Doomsday Clock’s minute hand did not change, remaining at three minutes before midnight, the closest it has been to midnight since the early days of above-ground hydrogen bomb testing. The Clock was changed in 2015 from five to three minutes to midnight.

There is not much room if the minute hand moves towards midnight. Note: It is the only hand that moves on this clock.

We live in scary times. These are very intelligent and thoughtful people. I will be paying attention to this.

The USA and Russia are not the only counties with nukes.

Plus, the doomsday clock is not solely about nuclear Armageddon.

What would make them go to war against each other?

While they do consider climate change, the climate change is too slow to be of any immediate (several decades) danger.

Biowarfare by terrorists is the bigger danger. The Australians wiped out 95% of the rabbits on two different occasions, so it can be quite effective.

Or that nuclear weapons are the only danger humankind faces?

Some people need to broaden their views. Either that, or read the history of the doomsday clock.

On the latter, here: The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists

My best to you.

Just watched Keith Olbermann's video about Trump being sick and completely crazy. It makes me start thinking about questions like, if you could travel back in time and take out Hitler or Oswald, would you do it? Hope saying that doesn't turn some evil eye on me.
