"Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become presiden." Grover Norquist

Last edited Wed Jan 25, 2017, 12:49 PM - Edit history (1)

This was Grover Norquist's exhortation to the Republican party in 2012 during the primaries. It seems they got it right with Trump 4 years later. He is a tool, a signer of bills. He will do what he is told, either by the Kremlin or the RW Republican hierarchy.

"We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate. [...]
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared."

Hasn't Grover more recently been accused of being a Muslim sympathizer by RWers crazier than he is? tanyev Jan 2017 #2

They get to destroy every advance this nation has made and they can do it in weeks, not years.

I also remember Karl Rove talking about the permanent republican majority. It's all falling into place for them.

Trump doesn't care about a number of issues the RWers do, and will happily sign of on their legislation. But he DOES have his own issues (particularly those that make him look good), and he'll beat up any Republican legislator that doesn't follow him.
