I've started limiting my reading to the first couple of comments and their responses. Anything more sends my blood pressure through the roof, something I can't really afford at my age. Plus, I find that comments can get repetitive pretty quickly on some of those threads.

I have observed that the overall number of trolls appears to be decreasing. This seems more evident on the threads dealing with hard news stories directly focused on issues striking at Trump supporters/critics alike (such as the rescinding of the FHA mortgage insurance rate cut) as well as stories that begin to look more like the descent of outright fascism (such as the various actions to control the message in favor of the administration). No numbers to support this, just an observation of what appears to be happening.

I've toyed with the idea of attempting some sort of analysis of troll response to political topics on FB, but my time for that kind of thing is currently focused on another aspect of the election.

Their large presence on social media (even if they just spout garbage like that one did) reinforces that crap for the less intellectually curious Trump supporters and makes them think they're in the majority. They'll never come to their senses as long as they are able to follow the Trump blowhards online.

I think this is likely an orchestrated social media blitz that's been carried over from the election.

So keep challenging them!

They want to own the narrative with lies - and these people will lie. Deliberately, gleefully and without shame. I don't give a damn about trying to change any of their sorry, foul little minds, but I refuse to allow them to smugly tell other people what to think.

They'll ask for evidence, but the only acceptable source is one that confirms their point. If asked for evidence, they'll either use nutty websites, or will start launching ad-hominem attacks on you.

They start with "the answer" and only want to confirm their beliefs, not challenge them.

Instead of "Please show me your facts, citing reputable impartial evidence." instead respond with "Did you get that from WorldNutDaily?" or "What other drivel did Breitbart drill into your skull today?"

If they defensively say no, respond with "So you're just making it up then? Pulling alternative facts out of the air?"

It is safe to assume that what a Trumper says is not a fact, from something that is not reputable, and has no impartial evidence to back it up and so you should act accordingly.

... with equally fake facts.

TROLL: "It's true, illegal voters cost Trump the popular vote. Everyone knows it. It's a fact! Millions of illegals voted!"

YOU: "I know. I've been reading that millions of illegals voted, and most of them voted for Trump. It's been all over the news - can't believe you missed it! Turns out the illegals actually handed him the election!"

Folks, if they're going to use this shit in our direction, we are MORE THAN ENTITLED to fire it back in theirs! I have always said I would never deliberately tell a lie, but meeting them on equal ground - the ground THEY attempt to set to their own advantage to screw their opposition - is perfectly fair.
